The past year has been quite a rollercoaster for me. There have been a lot of ups and downs, a lot of crying and laughing. I know this sounds very, very cheesy, but it’s true. And I don’t really know how else to describe it. As you know, I love throwing in some personal bits on this blog once in a while. That’s why I thought it would be fun to write a ‘year review’. Just talk about things that happened this year and maybe look forward to what’s coming. Let’s go!
I had a lot of fun activities in 2018. Most of them were parties and concerts. I had a lot of parties with my friends, which were so much fun. I made a couple new friends, some in unexpected places. I spent a couple nights staying up extremely late and chatting the night away. Evenings of cooking and eating together. Sitting on my balcony drinking a couple glasses of wine and just enjoying life. I’m so happy and thankful to share all these simple moments with people close to me. They might be simple moments, but to me they are still special.
As I mentioned, I visited a bunch of concerts this year. In chronological order: Khalid, Highly Suspect, Fall Out Boy, Shinedown, Tremonti, Shinedown (again), Kyle, Joji, and Tremonti (again). Fall Out Boy was definitely one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. I just remember the vibes to be so good and I couldn’t stop smiling during the entire concert. That was also because my baby MAX was the support, and his music just makes me so happy. All the other concerts were amazing as well, and I saw a lot of my favourite bands live, which is just mindblowing to me. I already have tickets for 5 upcoming concerts in 2019 and a festival, and that will probably be even more in the future. So in a couple months I will have seen all my favourite musicians live, except for one. So that’s an amazing thing to look forward to. I also still really want to write an article about all my concert experiences. If that is something you want to read, please let me know!
This year I also had a very busy summer holiday, and I visited some cool places. I went to Crete with my boyfriend, to Italy with him and his family, and I discovered my own country, the Netherlands, with my family. During the rest of the year I visited some cool places and festivals as well. It was all so much fun and I took a lot of pictures, of course. I already have some posts ready for publishing about these events and holidays containing all my best photos, so stay tuned for that.
University turned out to be really good for me. It is very time-consuming and stressful at times, but I passed the first year quite easily and with high grades. I learned to take more responsibility, be more social, plan things better, and that I really am a control freak. It taught me a lot about myself, because I now also finally have an idea of what I want to do with my life. This study turned out to be the perfect choice and I’m really enjoying it. In 2019 I get to start specializing a tiny bit already, so I will only follow medical biology related courses. I’m really excited for that, to learn more interesting things and to learn more about myself. Living on my own also helped a lot with that. I like to believe I’m a bit more responsible now. I do everything myself. I clean, do laundry, cook, and I even do the dishes. I really have to take care of myself now. It has proved to be hard sometimes, I do have my lesser days, but overall it’s going quite okay. And I like living on my own.
Of course my year hasn’t been all good and happy things. There were some sad parts as well, and I want to mention them, but I don’t want to spend a lot of time on them. The hardest part of this year was definitely when my uncle passed away. The entire thing happened way too quickly and it was a shock for everyone. I had a very rough time dealing with it. Also later in this year, both my parents had to have surgery. My dad had a quite minor surgery and got better very quick, but my mum’s surgery was a bit more intensive. It didn’t go perfect either, so she had a very tough time recovering. That got my entire family down a bit, of course. But now she’s doing very well again, so that’s amazing. Because of these things (and a lot more small things of course) I had some hard times dealing with my mental health. Living on my own and being alone all the time wasn’t always a good thing in that context. I had very low, but luckily also very good periods. I’m thankful to have my family and friends to pull me through the bad times. And I’m happy to say that I’m ending 2018 on a high note.
But, what do I have planned for next year? Well, considering my own life, I have some very fun concerts and events coming up, but I don’t really have any drastic changes planned. Considering my blog, I have some fun things coming up. I realised my main focus of my latest articles has been beauty, and I plan to kind of continue that. Of course I want to put in some more fashion articles, because I just love doing outfit posts. We’ll see how that goes. I may or may not also be planning to do videos again, but you’ll find that out whenever it happens.
To close this (very long) article I thought it would be fun to put in a song that I want to start off 2019 with. At first I wanted to name a song that summarized 2018 for me, but I decided not to do that, because there isn’t one song that does it perfectly. I think it still might be fun to make a Spotify playlist containing my favourite, and most meaningful, songs of 2018. So if you want to see that happen, definitely let me know! Now for the song that I’m gonna start 2019 with: Stays The Same – Lower Than Atlantis. I love this song a lot, because it has such a happy vibe to it and I just felt that the lyrics were perfect for this occasion. If you have a certain song you want to start the year with, let me know!
I want to wish you all an amazing New Year’s Eve and a great start of the year. May 2019 be the year all your dreams come true. I want to thank everyone who read my blog this year for finding the time for my silly posts. I really hope you guys are planning to stick around and that we can continue this fun thing together. I’ll see you soon!
