If you know me, you’ve probably heard me speak of Action before. Maybe even a hundred times. I just love this store a lot and I also used to work there, which wasn’t good for my wallet. Because I knew about all the new stuff coming in each week, I was spending a lot of my money right where I got it from. I don’t work there anymore, but I still get a lot of stuff from Action. They just have very amazing and, most importantly, cheap stuff, which always makes me come back. Last week I found out they had some new make-up products, so I was very eager to test them. In this week’s article: liquid highlighter drops.
I’m a big fan of using highlighter, so when I saw Max&More coming out with a new highlighter, I knew I had to test it. So I did. I got the color 136 Star Light. First of all, let’s talk about the packaging. I think the box looks very nice. It gives a nice view of the product, without looking cheap. My packaging had a crack in it, but it was the only one of this color left, so I just had to deal with it.
The bottle itself is just a simple, glass bottle. The lettering on it looks nice. The lid is very clearly made of plastic, which gives it a bit of a cheaper look, but I’m not complaining.
The highlighter is very easy to apply with the built-in dropper. It gives a lot of product at once, so I’d recommend nog putting it directly on your face, but first on your hand, for example.
Applying the liquid highlighter to your face goes quite smooth, but it gives SO MUCH glitter and shine. It’s extremely pigmented, almost too much. On the cheek pictured above I used multiple layers. Layering this product goes very easy. As you can see, the shine and the color is beautiful, but it’s just very extreme.
On this cheek I’m only wearing one, thin layer. As you can see, there’s still a lot of shine. It’s not really a subtle highlight that you wear on the daily. It’s more suitable for parties and full glam makeup and such. Also, the highlighter dries on your skin. It gives the feeling of wearing a clay facemask. You can feel there’s a layer of something on your skin, and if the layer is too much, it will even start cracking.
I’m still a bit in doubt about this highlighter. The color, shine and pigmentation is amazing, but the finish just doesn’t do it for me. It’s not a really comfortable feeling, thinking you’re still wearing your facemask. If I’d wear this product again, I’d only wear it in extremely thin layers, maybe applied with a fluffy brush.
I’d give this product a 5/10. Compared to the price, the product isn’t that bad. So if you’re looking for a really cheap highlighter to start with, this might be okay for you.
