I spent the fast majority of January getting inspired by a lot of things. It’s like an unintended ‘new year, new me’ kind of thing. I suddenly decided I want to live a healthier life and take care of myself more. That also means, spend more time in the morning deciding what to wear and making myself look good. We all now I’m crazy about makeup and fashion, and I really want to incorporate this more in my daily life. I thought it would be fun to create a post where I put all my fashion inspiration of the past days together. All these people have given my ideas on how to wear certain pieces of clothing that I first didn’t even know what to do with. These photos are helping me re-invent my personal style. Let’s see what I have found during my scroll on the internet.
I find all of my fashion inspiration on Instagram and Pinterest. There’s a link under every picture to the corresponding pin or Instagram account. I tried to create a bit of a logical order, putting pictures together that show a bit of the same items or the same kind of trend.
I love the combination of the leather with the checker print and the Dr. Martens. Really simple, but it looks really put together.
As you can see, I have a thing with patterned pants. I love patterned pants, because they add a lot more to your outfit than a patterned shirt. I’m not the biggest fan of colourblocking, but in this outfit it’s very subtly done.
I’m also a sucker for plaid. I can’t get enought plaid. I bought a dress like this myself, so it’s always nice to get some inspiration on how to wear it.
Besides loving all the patterns and colours, I still tend to go back to all-black outfits once in a while. I used to wear a lot of black, and my wardrobe has changed a bit, but I just love how classy and badass it can look at the same time.
So, layering is the next big thing, I guess? I’m kind of into it. As long as it doesn’t make me look like a 12-year-old. This looks really cute with the band tee.
I like dressing down dresses by wearing Dr Martens, or sometimes sneakers. It turns the look into a very casual, school-appropriate one.
More plaid! I have a couple plaid skirt in my closet and I can’t wait until the weather is warm enough to wear them. I also love, love, love knee-high socks. That’s been one of my go-to looks since I was about 15, I think.
I love layering with flanels. They add such a casual vibe to an outfit, and they go with almost anything. As long as you don’t wear too much patterns at once. It’s because of pictures like this that I decided I needed a decent, black belt. I’m also going to scavenge some thriftshops to find cool belts, because they can add a lot more to your outfit than you think.
Another thing I love a lot: oversized denim jackets. Sadly I don’t own an oversized one, but I do own some denim jackets. I love them so much because they go with literally anything.
Something I’ve been loving a lot lately is crazy blouses. I own a couple myself and I just love going through thriftshops finding the funniest dad blouses. Men’s blouses are very easy to style, if you’re going for the oversized look. Just roll up the sleeves and tuck it in your jeans and you’re looking fly as heck.
I’ve also been loving the 90’s/soft-grunge outfits. Although I must say that most of the looks surrounding this style will make me look 10 years younger. And that’s a bit too young for me. But the styling is really cute and the colours make me very happy.
And the last thing I’ve been loving lately: using lingerie bodies as tops. If you wear it well, it can look really classy. But it is something you must be comfortable with, because not everyone likes showing that much. But if you can pull it off, kudos to you! I might be trying something like this soon, maybe I’ll be confident enough to actually wear it… We’ll see.
And that wraps up today’s fashion inspiration. I’ve tried to show as much as I can, so I hope you enjoyed it. Let me know what kind of styles you’re currently into and what things you’d like to try, fashion-wise. Leave a comment if you want to see more like this, and I’ll see you guys very soon!
