I am, like a lot of other people, very active on the memeside of the internet. If you have spent a little time on YouTube lately, you probably will have seen a couple Tiktok compilations. Right now, Tiktok is the very centre of the memehole. Everything that Vine has left on this earth, is now moved onto Tiktok. But it’s 100 times worse. One of the most popular memes in the past weeks is the E-girl meme. Today I will dive into this meme and become a Tiktok e-girl myself. Let’s go.
Tiktok has a lot of different people active on the app. There are the 12 year old kids who use this app non-ironically, there are the true memers, and the attention-craving hot girls. Aka, Tiktok thots. We don’t like the word thot in this household, because it sounds degrading and we’re here to lift eachother up and support eachother. That’s why I won’t be referring to these girls as ‘thots’, although many others do. Most of these girls have the same type of look and the same way of acting, and are mostly considered to be a Tiktok E-girl. To understand what this means, we turn to the holy grail of the internet: Urban Dictionary.
The definition of egirl according to UD:
An egirl is a species of emo usually found on tiktok but commonly spends time on tumblr. Can be found wearing pink eyeshadow with a large wing, little hearts under the eyes and a blushed nose. Normally wearing some type of shirt from urban outfitters over a longsleeve striped shirt. Commonly found doing the me!me!me! dance but has probably never seen it before.
This gives us a good idea of what these egirls look like. So I thought it would be fun to transform myself into one of these girls. I have reduced the look into three steps: makeup, hair, and outfit. The outfit was the hardest part, since I don’t own an urban outfitters shirt or a longsleeve striped shirt that I can wear on top of eachother. So I just took inspiration out of all the lovely Tiktok egirls that are present on the app and made a fun little look myself. But first: makeup.
I’ll give you a little tutorial of how I achieved my true Tiktok form. I started off with my usual base: primer, concealer, highlighting concealer, powder. I also did my eyebrows and blocked them with, again, concealer. I finished by priming my lids. There are no special steps here yet.
Since the egirl, according to UD, mostly wears pink eyeshadow, I wore pink eyeshadow. I used my Max&More blush, that I will be using later as well, as the main colour on my lid and blended that out using a light pink blush by Essence. So no actual eyeshadow was involved in the making of this… Oh well.
Next step: A big black wing and a little heart under the eye using black liquid liner. Nothing too fancy here.
And finishing the eyelook by putting on my favourite mascara and putting black eyepencil on my upper waterline, to tie in my eyeliner to my eye.
Then onto the final, and most drastic, part of the look: the face details. First I added a ton of blush on my cheeks and nose, I contoured my cheeks and nose, and then I highlighted my nose and cheekbones. I finished the entire look by putting on the glitteriest, glossiest lipgloss I own.
Then we will be off to the second part of the transformation: hair. Which is fairly simple. The hardest part was to keep the hair from sticking to my lipgloss. The hair is basically just a middle part with two, quite high, pigtails. Leave some strands of hair around your face to accomplish that cute, messy look (please read this in the sarcastic tone I intended).
As I said, for the outfit part, I was not really sure what to wear. So I wore my newest dress, which resembles the dungaree dressess most of these girls wear. I did layer a longer sleeved shirt underneath, to tie into the emo vibes. That’s why I also chose to wear my docs with this dress. Emo vibes.
And that completes the full transformation. I don’t look half as cute as the Tiktok girls, but that’s fine. It’s not a look I want to pull off. You definitely won’t be seeing me wear this type of makeup again. Unless if it’s for a blog post… I love making a fool of myself.
If you enjoy this type of ‘funny’ content on my blog, please let me know and tell me what transformation I have to do next. I’ll see you next wednesday!
