Excuse my absence the past week. Since the start of the new year I’ve been trying to get my life in line again. Organizing and planning has never really been my strong point, so that’s what I’ve been working on the past days. Also, I have finals coming up so that has been on my mind more than the blog of course. So if you find yourself wondering where I am, I’m probably just spending my time studying. Oh well, now that’s out of the way, let’s get onto my plans for 2020. I always love setting goals and making resolutions, just to get my life straight a bit. Or at least feel like I’m getting my life straight. Let’s get into it!
I mostly like to divide my goals for the new year in small things that I want to change in my daily life, so resolutions, and big goals that I try to work towards. I’ll start with the tiny things that I want to change. First of all I want to start planning again. The past months I’ve been slacking in planning my days, and that really made it more difficult for me to work through the days. I want to plan more so I actually feel like I have time to relax and do little things that I love. With this ‘more planning’ resolution also come two small changes that I want to make to help this resolution. For one I want to use the Forest app more when I’m studying. Whenever I use it I study a lot better and plan a lot better, but I do tend to forget to use it. So I want to make sure I use that every day. And second I want to plan an hour every week so I can decorate my planner. I have used a bullet journal before, which was amazing and really helped me, but when I didn’t have time to create a spread, I didn’t plan my week at all because I didn’t have anywhere to put it. So I’ve started using a big planner with lots of space to plan my days meticulously. However, now I miss the creative side of using a bujo. So I want to plan an hour every week to just decorate that week in my planner, so it’ll actually be a bit fun to look at. It also helps me to plan my week in advance, which makes everything a lot easier.
Other things that don’t have anything to do with planning is that I want to just do more things that I love. Enjoy everything a bit more. I want to read more books, play more videogames, spend more time with friends. In general just say yes more often to things that I would like to do. I know school and work is important for my future, but that doesn’t mean that that should be my only focus. I am allowed to choose for my own happiness sometimes. My uni career has been going great these past years, so it’s not a shame if I take some time for myself every once in a while.
I also want to make sure that I take better care of myself. I always struggle in the winter time to take care of myself properly, since I do tend to have winter dips. I skip meals because I don’t feel like eating, I mess up my sleep schedule and I spend a lot more time just laying on bed doing nothing. I just find it harder to do things in winter time. So I just want to try to take better care of myself, especially when I’m struggling like this. I want to make sure that I eat three healthy meals everyday and that I get enough sleep. I’m trying to fix my sleeping schedule right now, so we’ll see how that goes. I just deserve to take better care of myself, so I will definitely try to.
And finally I want to tell you about big goals that I have in mind for the next year. One resolution that is not necessarily about me, but that I do want to work on, is being more sustainable. I’ve made a lot of changes in my lifestyle last year towards this goal, like shopping second hand, using more reusable, non-plastic items (water bottles, toothbrushes, makeup cleaning pads, straws), and eating less animal products. I really want to continue this lifestyle and look at what else I can change to be more sustainable. Because the earth needs it and most definitely deserves it.
And my biggest goal for 2020 is to work on my blog and my finances. I plan on saving more money and spending less, so I can visit Japan next year with my boyfriend. I also hope to work on my blog more so I can maybe make a bit of money off of it. And, great news, I have a fun collaboration planned for my blog, which you will probably hear about around february/march. Right now I can’t tell you more about this, besides that it’s such an amazing opportunity for me and that I’m absolutely grateful the universe has given me this. It’s also just extremely fun and I’m so excited about it. You’ll see what it is soon enough, haha!
I know this may sound like I am trying to control every aspect of my life, but I’m really not. I just want to try to better myself in these aspects so I can reach my ultimate goal: Enjoy the year and maybe find out what I want to do with my life. I already have some concerts and trips planned for this year, so those are great things to look forward to, as well as some fun blog related content. However, there are also things I’m not looking forward to at all. But that’s okay, as long as I do enjoy the rest and don’t stress about such things too much. I am allowed to enjoy my time here and do things that I like. And that’s the most important thing that I want to remember through this year.
So, now I’ve gone through all my goals for the year, I would love to hear about yours. Do you have any resolutions or just dreams for the new year? Tell me all about it! I want to thank you for reading, and I’ll see you next time!
