Review: Essence What The Fake! Mascara

Excuse my consistent absence on this blog, I’ve been extremely busy with uni work these past weeks. However, I finished my finals yesterday and now I have some time off until I start a more relaxed period. This also means I finally have more time to blog again. And I have so many ideas already! Today, as my first post back after a few weeks, I have a small review for you guys. I recently got the Essence What The Fake! Mascara, and since I myself didn’t really see much about it on the internet, I thought it would be a good idea to test it and give my opinion on it. So that’s what we’re doing today. Grab a snack and sit tight, we’re about the review this mascara!

Pictured is the Essence What The Fake! mascara and some decorations.

As always, let’s talk about the packaging first. Essence has recently been updating their packaging and transforming everything into this kind of bubbly and round shape. While I don’t think it has a very professional look, I do really like the cutesy aesthetic. Also, their entire collection seems to fit together a lot better now everything has similar shapes, so I definitely like their makeover. And who cares about products having a high end, professional look when they are definitely budget and have the cutest look? They also gave this mascara the round and bubbly shape. This means that the lid of the mascara is a lot thicker than that of other mascaras, which actually makes it a lot more comfortable to hold and use. I really like the packaging of this mascara.

Pictured is a close up of the wand of the Essence What The Fake! mascara.

The wand of this mascara is exactly the type of wand I like. The brush has pretty small bristles, and they are synthetic fiber bristles. I don’t like mascaras with rubber applicators at all, so I find this one very enjoyable. The short bristles are great for reaching corners and for applying mascara to your lower lash line.

This picture is a collage of two pictures, both close ups of Sanne's eye. One shows Sannes eye and lashes without the mascara and the other shows with the mascara.
Left is without mascara and right with. Don’t mind the unruly eyebrows haha!

As you can see, I don’t really have any eyelashes of myself. They’re pretty short in general and they have very light tips. That’s why I love using mascara in general. This specific mascara is very easy in use. It applies a thin layer easily which gives a lot of pigment. So you can create lovely black lashes without having an extremely thick layer on or having clumps. That also means that the mascara is easily buildable. In the pictures I am wearing only one thin layer of mascara. As you can see, it adds a lot of pigment and length to my lashes. It also adds a bit of volume, but not too much. It’s just a generally easy usable mascara which leaves a lovely pigment. It makes my lashes look a lot longer and fuller, without being clumpy or heavy. It also does not take long to dry, which is a plus.

This picture is also a collage of two pictures, both close ups of Sanne's eye. One shows Sannes eye and lashes without the mascara and the other shows with the mascara.
Again, left without mascara and right with, just in case you couldn’t see the difference…

I really enjoy this mascara, especially for everyday use. It makes my lashes look very full, but still pretty natural because it doesn’t leave a thick layer. It’s just an easy to use, easy result mascara for an amazing price. I have been using it everyday since I got it! The people from Essence have even been lovely enough to give me an extra one since I love this one so much. I really appreciate that, and now I can have a mascara at both my parents house and my own. Very useful!

To conclude the first review of this decade, I just want to say that I would definitely recommend this mascara, especially if you’re looking for something to use everyday. I want to thank you for reading, and I’ll see you next time!

The Essence What The Fake! Mascara is available for €3,59 in drugstores and on the Essence website
