Eyeliner Hacks: Fun Things to Try with Coloured Eyeliner

I recently got myself a new coloured eyeliner and it got me thinking. A simple coloured eyeliner wing is very cute, of course, but there must be other things to do with it, right? I like doing weird things with makeup, even if I’m not even going anywhere. I just like playing with different colours and textures, and sometimes it works out, and sometimes it doesn’t. This time I decided to play with all the different coloured eyeliners I own and I found some fun, different ways to use them. So today I’m showing you all the ways I was able to use them, in the hopes that it may inspire you to play with your makeup more, or use these techniques. Let’s go!

The first idea is the most simple and basic in my eyes. I used a coloured liner to add something extra to a simple, black eyeliner. Just trace the edge! It’s the simplest thing in theory. In practice, it might be a little difficult to get the line perfectly straight and even, but that’s why eyeliner is something you should practice with! I’ve been doing makeup for a long while now, and eyeliner can still be difficult for me. Just keep trying until you reach a result you like!

Next I want to show the most complicated thing I came up with. I really like graphic liners and I think they look so cool, but they’re quite difficult to replicate. You need a steady hand and a pigmented eyeliner that won’t smudge. The eyeliner I used wasn’t completely opaque and was a bit difficult to work with, so the result isn’t exactly what I wanted. But that’s fine, I still like the way it looks and the idea is fun. You can make a graphic liner any way you want. Just draw lines where you want them and connect them if you like. Have fun with it!

This idea is actually also some sort of graphic liner. For this look I created one big eyeliner that covered my entire lid. I did it in the shape of how I would usually cut my crease. I think it looks fun! It’s also an easy way to add some colour to your look, without having to blend all sorts of eyeshadows.

You might think we’re running out of ideas by now, but no! Coloured eyeliners are just so versatile, I kept coming up with new ideas. For instance this one: you can use eyeliner as mascara. Have you ever seen a cool makeup look on Instagram where the person had a crazy colour on their bottom lashes? Well, you can use coloured mascara for that, but also coloured eyeliner. Just softly stroke your eyelashes with the eyeliner brush (This works best with liquid liners of course! I’m not sure how well it will work with gel liners). You can also apply it to a spoolie or brow brush and then go through your lashes. Just figure out what works best with the eyeliner you own, and then you have your own coloured mascara!

For the final look I have the look that kind of sparked the idea for this article. I found this great pastel yellow eyeliner pen, and I just kept thinking of confetti for some reason. So, I applied the liner in dots, so it would look like confetti, and I avoided the lid. I know where I usually cut my crease, so I just didn’t apply any eyeliner in those areas, and now it looks like I have a confetti cut crease! You can use this in any way. Just like this it was a cute look to wear, but you can also extremify it with eyeshadow and lashes.

I took the look to a next level by adding more confetti in different colours, and a matching small wing. This is just a small example of how you can extremify your look, but you can do so many different things with it. Just like the other looks I showed you today!

Let me know which look you enjoyed the most or might have taken some inspiration from for the future! Those are all my makeup looks for the day. I want to thank you for reading, and I’ll see you next time!
