Lately I’ve been really excited about experimenting with my outfits and coming up with different outfit challenges. One thing that always has interested me is Disney bounding, and I’ve already done some articles on that (find them here and here). However, my wardrobe is not yet fit for a lot of Disney bounding. Therefore, I wanted to try and see which cartoon characters, that aren’t necessarily Disney, I am able to create with my own clothes. I came up with five different characters for each workday: Kim Possible, Misty (Pokémon), Spinelli (Recess), Phineas, and Bubbles (Powerpuff Girls). I’ll give you all the details on the outfits and talk a bit about my look on bounding. Let’s get into it!
Day 1: Kim Possible
I started the week with the easiest look for me to do. As some of you know, I dressed up as Kim Possible for Halloween, so I had all the outfit components in my closet already. It’s a look that I wear often, because not everyone immediately sees Kim Possible, and I think it’s just a good look on me. So I get to bound like one of my favourite characters on a daily basis, without being caught! It’s just very funny to me. These pants also are very comfortable!
Day 2: Misty from Pokémon
I didn’t watch Pokémon religiously growing up, like a lot of my peers, but I did watch the OG series a few years back when I first got Netflix. And I love it so much! Misty and Togepi are the cutest pair. Sadly I didn’t have her iconic red suspenders, but I did have a red belt, so I settled for that. For the shoes I just chose something similar to hers. I always find shoes the hardest thing to bound, since I mostly just have black shoes and most cartoon characters wear colorful clothing and shoes. So, this bound isn’t that accurate, but I think I came quite close.
Day 3: Spinelli from Recess
Spinelli is everyone’s favourite rebel. She was definitely the coolest character in Recess. I really wanted to bound her, since I did have a leather jacket and red dress already, but I was very sad that I didn’t have her iconic orange hat. I did search for it in thriftstores for a little while, but I didn’t find anything that worked. That’s the only annoying thing about thrifting, you can never find something you’re specifically looking for. Anyway, I just wore a black hat to make up for it and I chose some orange socks to rise above my boots to mimick the striped leggings Spinelli always wears. I think it’s a great bound for what I could do with it!
Day 4: Phineas from Phineas & Ferb (duh)
I got the idea to do Phineas because of this T-shirt that my boyfriend has. It has the same colours as Phineas’ shirt has! Isn’t that just perfect? So I borrowed his shirt, added some jeans and simple sneakers and then we’re done. Cartoon characters always have very simplistic outfits, but sometimes that can be just the problem with recreating their styles. I, for one, mostly have clothing with prints in my wardrobe, so very simple outfits aren’t always an option. However, borrowing clothes can be a great solution here! Like i did with the shirt.
Day 5: Bubbles from the Powerpuff Girls
I’ll be honest, I haven’t really watched the Powerpuff Girls. I was just researching different cartoon characters that I could bound as, and I thought of how perfect my blue dress could be for Bubbles, since I see a lot of people bounding as the Powerpuff Girls now. So, I just went with it. In stead of wearing white tights, I just wore a white turtleneck underneath my dress. Same idea, different execution. I added a belt and my white shoes, and I was done. A really cute outfit in itself, but also a cute bound, if I may say so myself.
I was very excited to do this challenge, but I must say that it was quite difficult. As I said, most cartoon characters have very simplistic outfits, which does not really match with my wardrobe, but they also have weirdly colourful outfits. Most garments in the cartoon world are coloured, like purple pants or green shoes. I just don’t have those kinds of things in my wardrobe. I still have a lot of black clothing from my ’emo’ phase, and every colourful thing that I now own is printed. So it was quite a struggle to find enough fun characters which I could bound as with the clothing already in my closet. It was a lot of fun however! I like just finding new ways to combine my clothes and be creative with them. I do have a few fun fashion challenges which I still want to do, but I have to wait until I can fetch the rest of my clothing from my own place for that. I don’t have all my clothes with me, so I can’t really do much. Oh well, that’ll play out eventually. Just know that there are more fashion challenges coming up, either soon or in a while. If you have any fun ideas for outfit challenges, please let me know because I want to do them! Also let me know if you like bounding and if you enjoyed this post and want to see more like this. I want to thank you for reading, and I’ll see you next time!
