5 Ways to Style an Oversized Blouse

If you’ve been following my blog for a little while, you probably know that I’m a sucker for a good oversized blouse. I have quite a few, most of them in funky patterns, and most of them thrifted. So over the last year I have found more and more ways to style these blouses. Today I’ll show you a few ways I like to wear them. Let’s get into it!

1 | As a jacket

This style is perfect for any long sleeved shirts you have lying around. Roll up the sleeves to give it a bit more texture, and wear it on top of jeans and a simple top. It’s lighter and less warm than a jacket, but you get the same vibe. Perfect for spring weather.

2 | Tuck it in

I also really like wearing blouses as if they’re oversized shirts. I pair them with some high-waisted jeans and completely tuck them in. Tug it a bit to get this nice, loose, oversized look. It’s also really comfortable, since blouses are much more airy than T-shirts. You can also tuck the blouse into a skirt, or, if you wear it on top of something that you can’t tuck it into, wear a tight belt and sneakily tuck it into that.

3 | Tie it up

Another fun way to wear an oversized blouse is to tie it up around the waist. Blouses are perfect for this, since you can make a knot using the two points. This style is perfect for wearing over your dresses, like I did in the picture. When you wear a blouse on top of a dress, you can give the dress a whole new look. It’s a fun way to mix-and-match items in your wardrobe.

4 | Belt it up

I was completely inspired by Grace (from gracexkate.com) when I saw this style on her Instagram. It’s such a smart way to bring a lot of femininity to something so casual. So I had to include this idea in this post. Just wear your favourite blouse all closed-up and wear a belt around your waist. This accentuates your curves really well. I paired it with some black jeans and a matching black bag.

5 | As a cover-up

Light, short-sleeved blouses are perfect as a casual cover-up in summer. They give the same idea as a kimono. It’s perfect for when it’s hot and you want to cover up your shoulders to prevent sunburn. Plus, it can add just that little bit extra to a simple outfit.
